About The Artist, John B. Mortensen

Thank you for visiting our site. John B.Mortensen began creating Bronze Sculpture in 1973, over 25 years ago. In that time he has created over 125 Bronze Sculptures, including twenty life-sized and monumental works. In 1992, he and his wife, Pam, created The Rainbow Trail Collection of Western Furnishings. As you can see from the work shown in both the Bronze Sculpture and The Rainbow Trail Collection, a great variety of work has been created.

Clients include, Disneyworld, Grand Teton Lodge Company, the state of Utah, R Lazy S Ranch, Kennecott Corporation, University of Utah, Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, Westminster College, and Utah Endowment for the Arts, to name a few. Mortensen's work is also in the permanent collections of Museums including the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming, the State of Utah and the Springville Art Museum. His work has been featured in many books and publications, including Cowboy High Style, Western Design, Rocky Mountain Home, Equine Images Magazine, Cowboys & Indians Magazine, West Magazine, House Beautiful Magazine,Jackson Hole Magazine, Images West Magazine, Cowboys & Country Magazine, Sunset Magazine, Yippy Yi Yea Magazine, and The Salt Lake Tribune, to name some.

Mortensen was the 1995 receipant of the Western Design Conference's highest award, the Switchback Ranch Purchase Award, and has been an invited exhibitor since the its first Conference. The Western Design Conference is held each year in conjunction with the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, during September. The Mortensen's Studio and residence is in Wilson, Wyoming, just outside Jackson Hole, at the base of Teton Pass.
